I am a little sad to see 2011 come to an end. Once again we have done such great work for our chosen charities — and had a lot of fun. That said, I know 2012 will be even better!
As most of you know, we presented our “Big Check” for $2500 to the Autism Society of America’s Greater Georgia Chapter at our 4th Annual Awards Celebration on November 12. Our celebration reflected on what our TASB volunteers have accomplished throughout the year — giving ‘recognition with style’ to our many volunteers, sponsors, and clients. The check represents the first of many future awards that will be distributed to organizations dedicated to autism research.
Award funds were raised at TASB’s first annual 24-hour “Cut-A-Thon for Autism,” held August 27–28, 2011. Approximately 100 TASB volunteer stylists and barbers from 20 salons and barbershops participated, including those from the following Atlanta-area locations: Heads-Up Hair Design (Kennesaw), One Look Salon (Marietta), Jennifer & Co. (Dallas), Doshia’s Parlor (Mableton), Perfection by Jeanette and Melissa & Co. (both in Cartersville), and A New Creation and Unique Hair Salon (both in Woodstock).
To date, we have raised $5,683 this year, benefiting charities including Autism Speaks and Relay for Life. I am proud of what we have done, and am thankful to all of you. Without your time and talent commitment, we couldn’t have done it.
The next “TASB Cut-A-Thon for Autism” will take place Aug. 25–26, 2012, and volunteers from across the nation are now being accepted. Spread the word!
